A radio-tagged female Burmese python in Big Cypress National Preserve swallowed an adult white-tailed deer, held the meal inside its body for 10 days, and then vomited the carcass after air temperatures dropped sharply.

Over 900 participants helped remove 280 invasive Burmese pythons from South Florida during the 2026 Florida Python Challenge, according to FWC.

This year's Florida Python Challenge was July 10-19 at eight designated locations in south Florida. More than 900 hunters participated.
