Three young men were hanged in Iran this week, raising alarm among rights groups that a wave of executions may be underway as authorities facing relentless attacks from the U.S. and Israel seek to squelch public dissent.

The nation of Iran has been carrying out executions, including of teenagers, as the U.S. and Israel wage war against the country, reports indicate.

Abolhassan Montazer and Vahid Baniamerian have been hanged after Iran’s Supreme Court upheld their sentences.

State media has confirmed 14 executions in Iran so far this year, though the Norwegian-based Hengaw Organization for Human Rights reported evidence of 160 hangings since January.

A State Department spokesperson called Iran's executions "barbaric" as the United Nations and activists group report the regime is using the death penalty to crush dissent.
