In SolidWorks, a Derived Sketch is a special type of sketch that is linked to an existing sketch — meaning it inherits all the geometry of the original sketch, but you can position it independently. You cannot directly modify the geometry in a derived sketch; if you change the original (parent) sketch, the derived sketch updates automatically.
