A living Atlantic giant cockle … Cockle shells are oval, inflated , and have a large umbo with one central tooth and socket . They are cream with brown or tan marks along their shell ribs, which are rounded and bumpy on one side and flattened & smooth on the other . These Cockles live in sandy shallows off beaches .
