BMW N47 timing chain failure. Customer ignored the timing chain rattle for months. Eventually the chain jumped timing and the pistons hit the valves, damaging the cylinder head. Luckily this one was repairable. We rebuilt the head and installed a new timing chain kit to get it back on the road. If you hear a rattle from the back of an N47 engine, don’t ignore it.
